Turf in Flowerbeds!

I have recently had some landscaping done and the Gardner has put quite a lot of turf into new raised beds to save on the cost of disposal. Will this eventually rot down or is it storing up problems for the future I.e. Constantly digging up sprouting grass?

Usual practice is to stack them grass side down and the grass simply dies off and you're left with just soil. If you're worried, you could also cover them with some black polythene to help the process. If they're going to have other soil or compost on top, they'll be fine as they are. image

  • He's put them face down with a bit of top soil on top and put plants in the borders?

Providing it's ordinary turf it should be fine.  If there was couch grass in the turf you might get a problem - if the gardener knew what he was doing he shouldn't have put any couch grass in there.  Fingers crossed image
