Don't be tempted to split dahlias into separate tubers C3k (just in case you were considering that.) They only shoot from the remaining part of the stem in the middle. Tubers separated without part of that stem attached just rot away. However, in spring when the new shoots appear, you can cut the shoots off and they will usually take root fairly easily, a good way to get more identical plants.

but there are other good ones about - shop around first! You used to be able to browse dahlis etc in on the PN site out of season, but that doesn't seem to be possible now. They are in their catalogue though!

If it's a dahlia, it's likely to be a clump. Anything else I'm with pansy.
They won't be selling dahlia tubers now surely. What plant is it?
