Just about to plant some Autumn lettuce help needed

Hi folks
im just about to plant some Autumn lettuce, would it be ok with just netting over it?

I put some in a couple of weeks ago and I netted it to keep the birds off when it gets colder I will cover them with a plastic cloche.
Runny, what are the winter Carrots that you sow, and when do you sow them?
Thanks Runny-I will get me some of those!
I usually grow mine in containers, so I can site a container close to the house where the temperature should keep the frost away.
