Yellow roots usually mean Stinging Nettles.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
thanks for responding- however- the yellow roots seem to be suckers from the day liliy- I have found another growing further in the bed- No nettles at all just woodland grasses and the odd thistle-I'm trying to get them out but wondered if the winter will kill the rooty bits I miss or will I be forever pulling day lilies out of the bed.#
