Agreed. I read somewhere that Autumn is definitely the time for scarifying as any new shoots in Spring would be damaged. I had cow footprints on my lawn last week and I filled those and seeded them but they may need more attention in Spring. We'll see!
I have just bought a house with a terrible Lawn in the back garden, though south facing it has been neglected. It has a tree stump in the middle that seems to be sprouting Honey Fungus?, unfortunately with no access at the back (except through a neighbours garden) grinding out the stump isn't a option, any ideas on how to deal with fungus without killing the lawn?? I always scarify and aerate in the autumn.
