I looked out at my Winter Jasmine yesterday and noticed a splash of yellow. On closer inspection this proved to be a flower.
Isn't this rather early for Winter Jasmine? And earlier than last year, when they flowered early anyway.

I'd not be surprised to see a bit of flower at this time.
Mine has started flowering as well. That's despite the severe haircut it got a couple of months ago!
So it might be early blooming, or it might just be getting started?
Hi everyone, my "winter" jasmine has quite a lot of flowers on as well .... in fact it has had the odd few flowers on it right through summer. Hasn't really stopped since last winter. I also have an evening primrose started flowering about 3 weeks ago and is now full of flower. It is about 3 feet high and wide and looks its best first thing in the morning. Only 4 degrees last night, so hope it doesn't harm the flowers. (I take old ones off every day).
Hello Snow, I only see my drive and my fence from my kitchen window, but it's worth going out the back door where the garden is. I can hear the sea this morning, my garden faces east and the sea is only about 500 meters away. By the way, I hope Snow is your user name and not a summary of the weekend weather!
My winter jasmine has been in flower since the end of August as well. Earlier than usual according to my diaries. Monty Don commented a few programmes ago about plants flowering at odd times this year and said that this sometimes happens and isn't necessarily a sign of climate change.
The same thing has happened here in Sheffield, some plants have flowered early, others later than usual. I have a spatttering of flowers on my spirea, normally a spring-flowering bush. My gladiolis have also flowered very late with some yet to flower.
Maybe the plants are a tad confused after our 'summer'? Mind you, native British species should be accustomed to that by now.
Out walking locally I also noticed a Mahonia, probably 'Charity', coming into flower. Is this unusual?
