Boston fern from spores ...

So , I sowed some boston fern (Nephrolepis exaltata) spores on sterile soil a month back . And I notice some gametophytes (prothallus) forming on its surface . But they are still very small , almost like bright green pixels . How long for them to grow gametes and how many months before fern comes from it ?

Although I have never done this, I hve read that it can take quite a long time, sounds as if you are off on the right track, keep the trays moist and quietly wait - all will be revealed in natures time I imagine.
