New Front Lawn

I'm about to embark on a new front lawn after removing the existing 1980's paving slabs. Under them I discovers a hardcore layer of brittle tarmac. The area drains very well and being rather on the lazy side I wonder if I could put topsoil on top of this layer and then lay my turf.

A good idea??? Over to you wonderful people...

    You need to remove the Tarmac or it will pond when soils on top

    Proper prior planning prevents pretty poor performance (except that they didn't use 'pretty')

    And Roy Cropper (who he?)'s phrase was much in use too.

    Hi Jenson I would remove the tarmac and try to use it elsewhere in the garden..

    Then import topsoil/rake it/walk on it to settle it in/lightly rake again then turf it

    over.Its quite a job but you will get great satisfaction when finished.

    I have tried cutting corners on projects before but it seldom works.

    Anyway good luck with this project..
