I use iris in the damp shady part of my garden.they are under planted by contorted willow.lower branches of the willow pruned to allow good growing hight for the iris.
All of those plus ligularias, chelone, astilboides, candelabra primulas and Japanese anemones in mine which gets full sun from 3:30pm between the spring and autumn equinoxes so no direct sun at all for 6 months of the year.

Verdun, to each his own and all that, but I hate brunnera. I know loads of folk rave about it, but I don't get it.
I'm happy to concede that lots of folk hate hostas, but they're just wrong.

Dicentras and Solomon's Seal ( Polygonatum )will take a lot of shade and damp soil too.
