I cut mine done by a third, strip the leaves off. If it stays above 5degrees it will begin to shoot new leaves

  • Lovely image Thanks nodlisab  do you take off every leaf just leaving sticksimage

I don't take leaves off unless they have succumbed to rust, in the conservatory they may bloom right through. Some do some don't. Then I cut down in Spring right to the bottom.

we all do things differently, I grow hundreds and that's what I do, Baslidon grows lots as well, so it's up to you.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

I remove the leaves when the plant has begun dropping, then in the spring prune back the head of standards by a third, same with bush varieties.

  • Thanks everyone  image I'm not sure if mine might go through they only have a couple of flowers left and leaves going light green/yellow so perhaps I'll pick most off.  ( I'm used to my plant efforts ending up as potted sticks image)
