My daughter photographed this plant in Sheringham, I was wondering what it is called?

Thanks.  I think I'll have a go at growing them from seed.

  • I love Echiums, they grow the first year flower the second year then they die.So you need to keep growing the seeds from one year to the next.

I've got some in the polytunnel I grew from seed this year( very good germination rate too,)

. I'll plant them out next year and watch them rocket up. Very Excited.

I find find that they self seed very easily and the garden grown ones are much hardier than pot grown seeds.

Hosta, don't expect them to flower next year, they are a strange plant, they need that full year in the ground before they flower. Don't put them too close, mine are about 2 to 3 ' already, and if they survive the winte will be huge next year.

This one grown from seed in Spring 2014, planted out in September, growing on this year ready to flower next.
