The weekend would be a good time to visit http://www.helmsleywalledgarden.org.uk/ We had a run over there today, lovely little plant center and bistro too. Its looking rather stunning at the moment.
Guilden Morden, South Cambridgeshire is opening 12 gardens to the public from 1pm to 5pm. It's the first time we've done so for years. There's everything from a latge market garden (source of most Christmas trees in the village) to a courtyard based on a Geoff Hamilton design, semi urban and large cottage gardens. Two were designed by Chelssea gold award winners, the others by local enthusiasts!
The Congregational Church has mobilised all its members to provide on tea
We're really easy to access, 15 mins from the A1. Find us by typing this postcode into your SatNav SG8 0JD.
Horsell (Woking, Surrey) is having it's annual Garden Safari this weekend.
There are 26 gardens to view this year, 8 of them new.
The local museum called the Lightbox has a Gertrude Jekyll exhibition.
If you don't know Horsell then I can assure you that the edge of the village (where Lightbox is located) is within 10/15 minute walking distance of Woking station.
Cost is £7 which allows access to all gardens over both days.
I'm going to Haconby open gardens, S. Lincolnshire, on Saturday and if not worn out by that I shall go to Castor House, N. Cambridgshire in the evening. Wine will be served there.
Thrumpton Flower & Garden Festival on 29th & 30th June in Nottinghamshire (NG11 0AW for your Sat Nav). 1pm - 5pm. £3 entry, U16s are free.
On the Saturday there will be stalls and children's maypole dancing. Tea and cake, plus bar on both days (and believe me when I tell you the local village ladies' cake is amazing!)
I'm opening my garden for the first time ever, and am working my bottom off trying to get it ready . Some of the gardens opened for the NGS until last year, and one of those will be selling plants that she expertly propagates herself. All proceeds go to the upkeep of the beautiful village church.
Thanks everyone for your kind words and best wishes. Garden has a couple of jobs in store for me and then it's all done, with one eye on the weather for Sunday.
I love the way this thread has now taken off... just what I hoped would happen. Good luck to all thost now posting on here.
