Delphinium Seeds
Hi,
Just harvested some delphinium seeds from my plant and fancy trying to grow more from seed.
Could anyone help with some info i.e. when to sow, what soil/compost and anything I need to do to the seeds? Hoping I can sow them now??
Thanks in advance for any help

I leave mine to sow next spring, in a windowsill propagator, and then grow them on for a year in pots, protecting them from the frosts. They normally then flower in their second year, when I have planted them out in the garden. Here's one of mine that managed a flower in its first year
I'd sow some of your seed now and then sow some more in early spring. Delphinium seeds are best sown fresh as germination tends to fail the longer you leave it.
When sowing, I use a mix of 50% multipurpose and 50% vermiculite, then cover with a small amount of vermiculite and keep around 15 degC - I also keep mine in the dark using a piece of cardboard until seeds start to pop up.
Best of luck! Cheers Paul.
