Nail in tree trunk

Hi all. I want to fix a bird box to a conifer in my garden and wondered if there is any type of nail I should avoid or even if I shouldn't do it at all.

Many thanks in anticipation.

We just bang in whatever OH has in the workshopimage

    In the sticks near Peterborough
  • Aluminium nails are best as they don't corrode like steel ones and won't damage chainsaws if the tree is later felled.  Not something found in the average workshop though! image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
