I have a Standard Solanum rantonnetii which I bought last year and am growing in a pot . Unfortunately I left the plant outside during the winter weather and it has partially died a death. However, new shots are appearing at the base of the main stem Should I prune the dead wood now, or wait until later? Will the new shoots flower this year? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Yes, prune the dead wood out now Sally, while it's easy to see and get at. They flower on new wood, so you should still get some flowers this year.
I have the same problem except I can't see any new growth at all. Is it dead?
Hi Judi, I thought mine was dead in 2013. Left it in the pot and last year (2014) started to produce shoots later in the year but didn't flower. This spring it has produced very healthy looking side shoots from old wood and am keeping my fingers crossed that it will flower this year.
Just to update everyone. My Solanum rantonnetii has grown into a monster this year. It was over 6ft tall and I had to cut it back twice this year. Still flowering profusely. One question, when should I prune and will it flower again next year?
