Woodworm problem
Can anyone help please, I have a very old and lovely old Cherry tree in my garden and have noticed on the trunk, where a branch must have been taken off years ago, I have a woodworm infestation. Has anyone come across this and what can I treat it with. The tree is healthy other than this.

It won't be woodworm Try hard, they only feed on dead wood. It'll be boring beetles feeding on the dead wood on the tree. They won't cause any major problems as they too only feed on decaying wood. You can try cutting back to new wood which will heel quickly and leave nothing for the beetles to feed on. It sounds as though it wasn't cut back properly in the first place.
