It survived - 15c here a couple of years ago. A large phormium in the same bed died and so did my Daphne bholua . I do mulch it in winter with some compost but that is mainly so I know where it is. It's a member of the ginger family, I think, but I think it looks a lot like an orchid. It seems to thrive on neglect. I moved it when the Euphorbia grifithii threatened to smother it.
Do you know what that geranium is Fairygirl? I have some I grew from a packet of mixed seed last year that have flowered for the first time in the shady bed under the oak. I have no idea what they are.
Singy the red and white Sweet William are the first to flower of my mant clumps of them because they are in a corner of one of my raised beds which are warmer than my borders. In July you will see them in all hues round the garden in my pictures. They are so easy if you treat them as perennials and keep sticking cuttings straight in the ground. I started with a packet of seed aout ten years ago.
No, Nut. I've moved it once, and split it to give some to my mum (backup plants)
It dies down each year to small tubers a bit like dahlias. The main problem is that is doesn't start to grow until may, so early weeding results in a fork being put through it.
This is a cluster of about 6 plants. I will probably split the larger clump up again this autumn. I seem to have lost the purple version.
I'd always assumed it wasn't very hardy as it looks so exotic. Late appearance is always risky. Arisaemas disappear, whether they die or come out with the weeds I don't know.
Fidget no idea what the geranium is but it has quite distinctive crinkly leaves. Will get a pic tomorrow and put it on. There's a huge clump of it anyway. I may try and have a look online and see if I can find out which variety it is. That second geranium pic you have looks very like the pink one we get round here. Don't know it's name though!
That plant you have does look very orchid-y! Lovely.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I've just come in after an hours watering. Just before dusk, and very humid. The sweet rocket are glowing, as most of them are white. Some of the foxgloves are pale and they stand out too. The honeysuckle (Graham Thomas) smells gorgeous over the pergola, just started flowering. The roscoea has more flowers out. The swifts are buzzing around overhead, catching insects. In the dusk you can't see the weeds. Bliss.
Hollie another faboulous garden. Love the views up the path.
I was surprised that all the sweetpeas on one wigwam were white ( not that there are many yet) then I remembered that one packet of seeds were all white
I am really pleased with a new clematis, I only got it as a plug earlier in the year but the flowers look lovely next to the Dr Rupple

That's a lovely plant fidget. Is it hardy enough to grow up here in Scotland? It looks very delicate - beautiful anyway
