Mildew

Simple question (hopefully) but cant seem to find an answer on google... If a perennial has mildew, does that mean the mildew will come back next year or because the plant dies back over winter will that get rid of it?

simple answer is no, It doesn't mean it'll be back next year. It's due to factors including weather , watering , feeding etc and I'm sure many more.

If it's really bad, it's not a bad idea to collect the fallen leaves and dispose of them to the council tip or burning. I'd not risk the compost bin personally.

Conditions more than the plant itself really, so improving is the best solution.

Some plants are more resistant too.  image

I had mildew on Scabious when I grew it in a previous garden. It had good air flow, and with the amount of rain we get, you'd think it wouldn't be an issue, but the soil was shallow and quite poor where it was. I moved it to a better spot, no problem after that.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
