Talkback: Three tips for growing amaryllis

I have seen a huge clump of pink amaryllis, well it looks like an amaryllis, growing in a very sheltered south facing neglected front garden in Suffolk. ?????



The stems are three foot long.



I always thought these were indoor only.

    PS There are up to five large flowers on each stem.

    Probably Amaryllis Belladonna  - obviously in a very warm spot to have got to that size!

    The only place I have seen them growing here is at Wisley, in the walled garden against the south facing wall.  But when I went to Jersey at this time of year they were popping up everywhere like weeds image

    Love amaryllis! They were my mother's favourite bulbs. I live in Taiwan, and they grow really well in my front garden! Look magnificent at Chinese New Year.
