Pricking out seedlings
in Plants
Hi all
How do I know when seedlings are big enough to prick out? Recently I have sown Poached egg seeds, Sweet Peas, Larkspur, Centareua and a few others. They have germinated and are growing quite nicely now around 3"-5" in height. Should I do it soon or wait until Spring?
Regards
Simon

I do it very early, as soon as there's enough seedling to get hold of. That way they don't get leggy and fall over.

Thanks for that. Sounds like a job for the weekend....
Good idea, weather looks good for some garden work

You usually wait until the second leaves form, the first leaves are seed leaves the second are true leaves, make sure when pricking out you do so by holding a leaf NOT the stem.
If you think they are a bit leggy just pop them deeper into the compost so they are just above the first pair of leaves that popped out.
Thanks Chrissy and Lyn, much appreciated
