Where does peat ome from?

today I bought some peat moss from a garden centrer, i understand how peat is formed but id like to know the name of the location it comes from. thank you

I've heard the Russian tundra is sitting on peat many miles deep.
We have loads up here but I don't think any of it's used commercially. Still cut by crofters as a source of fuel though.
Plays havoc with the stitching on your boots...no wonder sheep get foot rot
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
