Anyone know if it would be advisable to set fire to my Stipia Gigantea during the dormant season to get rid of all the dead growth.
If you want to kill it.
I rake mine out in spring if I get round to it and cut around the underneath dead stuff sometimes
Just thoght that might be what happens when they grow in the wild!
You're thinking of pampas grass i think. Not even sure if that's true
I hack mine back to a couple of inches in april with shears then rake up the waste. It grows back no problem. Don't set light to it. It's not that tough and you may damage ther roots
