odd coloured ladybirds
I've seen quite a few unusual ladybird type things. Sorry - no photo!. Size of a small ladybird and seem to be red base almost totally covered with black spots what merge together. Are what I describe these Harlequin things (I thought they are bigger?). Importantly, are they friend or foe??? Sadly I've seen only 1 'proper' Ladybird this year! I'm sorry that I am asking something that has already been asked but I can't find anything. Mags

They could be British Natives or Harlequins (although they are ususally slightly bigger than natives). They both come in various different colours/patterns. Just a few here

What a fascinating lot of ladybirds on that link, Dovefromabove! I think the ones I see are Pine Ladybirds. Thanks very much. Mags
