I've found peanut butter to be the best bait for mouse traps. They love it.
I'd not waste chocs on them, Waitrose Essential crunchy they get here.
A large raisin tucked under the trap trigger seems to work with mice for me.
The Red Kites in our area collect them from the garden once the trap dispatches them
