Best Hedge Trimers for Pleached Trees?
I have 6 hornbeam trees against a wall in the back garden which are grown to create a "hedge of stilts". They are now getting to the point where I need to start shaping them into a neat hedge, but I am not sure what hedge trimers to get. Ideally I need something that could be extendable to keep the sides neat right to the top (probably about 3-4 metres tall). Does such a thing exist - or do I need to call in the tree surgeons? Advices please.

I've got a long handled petrol hedge trimmer which would do up to 4m.
Go to a specialist garden machinery shop.
Thanks - a stupid question (perhaps) - but how do you square off the top of the hedge?
you get up a ladder
the head on mine can be angled, but I prefer to get up and see what I'm doing.
If you're going for the petrol hegde trimmer make sure that it's not too heavy. Don't listen when the man in the shop says he could trim hedges all day with it...he's a bloke! Allow also for the weight of the fuel. Again, this is nothing to a bloke but can be the final straw if you have arms like pasghetti and 0-1 out of 10 upper body strength. That would be me!
Thanks Plant Pauper - useful advise! I am not keen on petrol - having to store the fuel when there are little people around doesn't seem sensible. I am looking for a solution that means I can reach the top without having to climb too high on a ladder! I have no head for heights! Battery/electric and telescopic seem to be the solutions so far!
