@Hostafan1 - "The old stuff I'd use as a mulch. The younger stuff, add it in layers to you compost heap along with the wood shaving."
Thanks for the advice. I kind of knew this already but was wondering if I need to worry about ratios... Also, not sure how long I need to leave the manured compost before using on the garden. My dad is telling me fresh manure will burn the garden, so i want to make sure I leave it long enough.
Thank you for your jealousy I will post you some if I have any left over
If you send it Royal Mail it'll be well rotted by the time Hosta gets it
I have plenty of access to fresh stuff as I work in an Equestrian Centre. I created a border 2 years ago from compacted grass. Laid some on the top over winter and when the shrubs were put in ( with some compost added) they grew like mad.
We also use shavings - most horsey people do now, as horses gorge themselves on straw.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Ah, this is just the kind of advice I need. I am making a raised boarder too and was wondering whether I could just spread the manure on top or if I had to mix it in thoroughly - Thanks!

@Pansyface, yes, I sang that at skool!
@Matt - you will LOVE what that manure does to your clay. All the hard work shovelling it about will be more than worth it. Lucky chap!
I've said it before. " I'm very jealous"
and you will love all the faffing about it takes to do quotes
