plants for permanent hanging baskets

Hello - i have 4 permanent hanging baskets on a wall in partial shade, they get very dry and its really windy where they are located. i planted ivy in the hope this would cover the wall but hasn't worked and they are slowly all going brown.  Can anyone recommend another plant i could try, thinking maybe a rockery plant such as aubrieta which could over hang?? thanks
