Problem with onions!

We have lifted our onions, and put them in the garage to dry, however some of them have damp 'necks'. Any ideas anyone as to what could be causing this, and are they still edible? Thank you.

    Hi it's neck rot caused by a fungus botrytis,they wasn't dry enough when put into storage, they won't store for long best to use them nowimage

    Does this mean I can't plant onions in the same place as these have been?

    You can't grow them in that place for 3years.image
