Cherry Tree Help

I have acquired an extra piece of allotment ground that has a small cherry tree on it. It is strangled with brambles and bindweed at the moment. I noticed it had some fruit on it last year but I wanted some advise on anything else I can do to help rejuvenate it after I've cleared its space

I would clear around it , mulch over winter and feed in Spring.

Pruning will depend on what state it is in. I would start by taking out any dead or diseased branches only. Pruning is best done while the tree is growing to minimise chance of silver leaf disease. It will be too late this year, best wait to prune until next May.
