Are they weeds or are they poppies?

Can anyone tell me if they have had these poppy like plants on their allotments or garden, should I pull them up or do they flower or are they a weed. Next to a poppy they do not look quite the same but are very similar, there are loads. Thanks Julie

I'd take a guess at meconopsis cantabrica, the yellow flowered welsh poppy. They do self seed very freely but I quite like them

If it is the Welsh poppy it can turn into a nuisance, as they're difficult to weed out (they re-grow from scraps of taproot). They like acid soil, and will grow in sun or shade.
