Thanks for replying Tetley, I have some in the ground and some in pots , some in shade and others in full sun. The ones in full sun are mostly in the ground and might not have had enough water early summer as it was so dry here. They are getting plenty now though ! They looked so healthy a month ago .
Are they evergreen or deciduous sooty - is it just autumn colour change? I don't grow fuchsias at all, but I had a hardy one donkey's years ago so can't remember.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Depending where you live the nights are getting colder it could just be them going into dormancy or it's the time that vine weevil will be hatched. They eat the roots of plants and then the plants die, they will especially go for the ones in pots. I treat all my potted plants now with a vine weevil killer to make sure there are no grubs eating the roots.
Thank you Fairy girl and Chrissy , they are all hardy varieties that have been in for a few years now. I thinkTetley hit the spot when he/she said it could be drought as it was so dry here early summer . Will water more often next year …. Thank you all
Hardy fuchsias thrive in light sun partial shade you can over water too which stresses the plant causing leaf drop, also could be a minaral deficiencies Next year I would foil ire spray them with epsom salt garden grade when leafs start showing.
