rust and black spot

B3B3 Posts: 27,481

I've never had much of a problem with rust or black spot until this year. Is it possible  I introduced a susceptible Typhoid Mary of the plant world which spread it around or was it just the weather conditions?

I'm thinking of a golden showers rose which I bought last year which seemsto be particularly prone to it.

I've had a bit of a problem with blackspot too and I usually remain clear of it.  Think the weather has had a lot to do with it.

I hoped that was the case!

  • Yes, some years are worse than others.  Make sure you remove all fallen leaves from beneath affected roses as they are the main source of infection icome next season and, of course, wind blows leaves around so can spread it to other nearby roses as do aphids.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
