Bay tree - 20foot high looks poorly

  My neighbours, the pig farmers who are fairly besotted with gardening, bless 'em, thought they had lost a large bay last year and then quite late in the season it started to recover, so don't give up yet. Keep an eye open for signs of new growth.

  If it really looks dead at the top cut it back to make a bush. I did that in my last garden and it grew up again very quickly, not a tree but lots of bush,
