Cutting the top off raspberry canes

My raspberry canes are now about 7 feet high.

Can I cut them down to about 5 feet now ?

    Chris, in the past I've taken a foot or so off the top of my canes without any trouble.

    I always cut the tops off my raspberry canes.

    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Thanks all,  am just putting on my glad rags and moseying over to my raspberries to cut the tops off !

    Yes, I've done that too when I've had the space. Bend the top closer to horizontal and tie it to the top support wire.

    I cut the tops off of mine last year and just shoved them in the ground not expecting anything, but they rooted. image
