Acer Palmatum “Bloodgood”

I recently bought a Acer Palmatum “Bloodgood” from Dutch garden centre near Potters Bar Hertfordshire.
I was told that the final height and spread would be about 1.5m x 1m.
I checked this on the internet to find that the final height and spread will be 5m x 5m. I do not have space for this. I am wondering if there are different species of Bloodgood.
What do you suggest I do?

The RHS says it will take 10 - 20 years to grow to 2 1/2m to 4m. If that's too big could you take it back to the garden centre?
Hi, I would stick with it Eamon, I have one and can assure you they are slow growing. Mine grows an inch or two during May, then nothing, it sits there sulking refusing to grow anymore though it does look wonderful.
Mine is 5 years old and about 18 inches, it was about 4 inches when my daughter bought me it.
Used to water itwith the hose pipe and i think the sun shining on the droplets of water scorched the leaves, taken 5 years to realise....
I wouldn't worry...mines been the same height for the past 8 years. About a metre tall.
