Climbing Honey suckle

Hi Folks i have a wooden fence round about 7 feet high & i have bought 3 climbing honey suckle my question is do i need wires / mesh etc for them to grow up or can i attach vine eyes and tie them in with string until the stems attach themselves to the fence .

    They wind round supports and can get quite heavy so the best bet is strong vine eyes fixed in rows at intervals of about 12"/30cms with wires stretched and tensioned horizontally between them.   Train in the honeysuckles as they grow until they're big enough to wind around themselves later on.

    image Just this afternoon I have been tying in the stems of my Honeysuckle,covering eventually up and over a 6ft archway,can't wait to smell the perfume from it when it flowers.

    Have put another one the other side of said archway also,so it grows up and joins hands across the top so to speak.

    I have 2 growing up trellis , I intend in October / November to cut them right down as they are so vigorous , they have reached the size that winter gales could blow them down , agree perfume is wonderful image
