Replacing planting with lawn

I have added a picture below of my new garden, which I love.

As you can see it has a circular border in the middle with a nice grass growing and beside it another circular border with lavender. Now although I love both plants and I like how it looks, I'm thinking reclaiming this as lawn maybe better for me and my children.

I believe this is a good time to sow grass seed.

So my question - is it just a simple matter of digging out the lavender and grass and preparing the soil for the seed? I have no idea how easy any of it comes out but I'm guessing it shouldn't be too bad. Because the borders consist of two pretty organic shapes, that using seed to create a lawn would be a better option.

Dig out the plants and dig over the beds removing any stray roots. Rake the beds level. Tread the beds down with your feet, topping up with some topsoil if necessary. Rake them over again, tread them again, topup again, rake them again. You want them to be just proud of the grass and no more. Sow your grass seed and keep well watered if necessary.
