Advice required

I found some white fungus looking spots on the bark which I washed off and they have to date not re-appeared but the middle branches appear to be dying back. These have lost their leaves and the whole tree is looking sad.Does anyone have any good advice please.

I have a gardening friend who tells me there is a sickness going round that kills acers.  They start with die back, then lose leaves and struggle on for a season or two and then die.

It's happened to one of mine that was looking stunning till July but now is very very sad so will come out this autumn.

have a look at the soil. They're susceptible to vine weevil.

  • Thanks both, I suspected that I might lose it. I have another one growing in a pot so will plant that  in another spot next spring. Never thought re vine beetles  but will have a look - when the weather brightens up!
