    Just watch it. I'm fairly sure it's PCA,but I'd not stake my reputation on it.

    Thanks Hosta, I think it might be going then. I have enough trouble in that area with passionflower and bindweed popping up where they are not wanted - I don't need tree suckers as well! I'll give it a last chance to develop bark colour over the winter then make a final decision. 

  • I bought a white passion flower, Hubby told me not to plant it in the bed, because the other one we have goes mad (according to him!) I left it in its quite large pot, trailed it up a metal obelisk, kept it well watered, it wilted and died!  I dont know this rogue tree that Hostafan1 etc. are refering to, will keep my fingers crossed that isnt what you have!

    I cut out a passion flower last year which had smothered the pergola and 5 rambling roses .

    Best thing I've ever done. The roses were stunning this year, and , best of all. The passion flower hasn't come back.

  • My roses were also stunning this year, almost everyone of them has a second flush now!
