Only keep for seed if you have had no disease whatsoever on the plants.
I always buy commercially grown seed potatoes, guaranteed virus free, usually grown high up in scotland where there are no aphids to spread the disease.
I usually plant a few overwintered seed and have had no problems. Back when my late dad grew spuds in large quantities we rarely bought in seed, too expensive.
Keep your potential seed as carefully as the ones you want to eat in spring. Kept in a cool, dry, dark place main crop spuds will last until April, then sow them.
