Poorly Aucuba

Hi

My variegated aucuba is not doing well.

The shoots and leaves are drooping and turning black on several of the large stems. The rest of the plant is growing well.

Any ideas what could be causing this.

Thanks

Check out phytophora infections, it's not something I know a lot about but I had your symptoms in an aucuba and eventually diagnosed this. The bush recovered but lots of dead stuff had to be cut out

    Thanks for that.

I think you may be right as I also have some conifers that aren't well so guess it could be the same thing.

Will keep an eye on the aucuba and hopefully it will recover.

I don't think that this blackening is always an infection. I remember something on the RHS site that waterlogging in cold winters can cause this.

Cut out the blackened affected shoots and give it a feed, fingers crossed.
