    What plants and when @wilsongloria04?
Any hardy perennials or shrubs don't need any protection.  You can tuck them up against a house wall. :)
Hi @wilsongloria04. Good question from Fairy, what plants? I agree that hardy perennials will be fine outdoors in a sheltered spot, but if you have tender things like pelargonium cuttings they need winter protection.

Tell us what you've got for best advice.  :)
  •  Hi, I have lavender, Hebe, whirling butterfly, Salvia, Osteospermum, cuttings.

Hebe is a hardy shrub, so fine outside overwinter. Same goes for english lavender as long as it doesn't get waterlogged, french lavender is more tender and would probably be best undercover in the greenhouse.

Osteospermum is not hardy and needs winter protection. I've never had success keeping them but I think another forum member @B3 has in London, I think she keeps them in the porch. ?

I've never heard of whirling butterfly I'm afraid, and don't grow salvias but someone else will, and have advice for those.  :)

Whirling butterfly is Gaura, as far as I'm aware @Kitty 2. I've just bought a small one, but it's been outside here since I got it, and is slightly bigger than a cutting. We've had a week of frosts - it was minus 6 here last night - and it's fine, but it's already well acclimatised.

I'd agree  with Kitty - the hebe will be fine, just up against a wall,  and the salvia and lavender would be better with a bit of protection if they're small, even where you are. Some osteos are hardy, but most are half hardy so I'd probably err on the cautious side with those. It does depend how far on they all are though.
Have you got a photo @wilsongloria04? It would help to offer more advice.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thanks to you all for your advice much appreciated.
