Blight resistant, tasty potato wanted

My potatoes had blight last year so I grew 'Rocket' potatoes this year and although they looked great and grew well they were absolutely tasteless. Is there a TASTY but also BLIGHT FREE potato that anyone could recommend?

You could try the seed catalogues they sell potatoes as well and onions and garlicimage

Any of the 'Sarpo' range. I have grown Axona and Mira and never had blight although other potatoes grown at the same time did get it. Big potatoes, mind.

  • Try Nadine they are second earlies so even if you have blight in your location it should be possible to get them out of the ground before it takes hold, they are tasty too. This year I grew swift, nadine and desiree all tasty and blight free.

Thank you everyone. I did try Sarpo but they fell to pieces very quickly when I boiled them in the pan, so I didn't get them again.  I will look up the ones Barry has recommended. I wonder if everyone finds 'Rocket' tasteless or is it just me?

Charlotte (second early) are delicious and store well.  No problems with bight this year or last.

We found Epicure the least tasty of the potatoes we grew.

I grew Sarpo Mira in sacks and Sarpo Axona in the ground. The Mira held together well but the Axona (an improvement on Mira) fell appart rather quickly. I put this down to the Mira having more regular watering.

  • hi best crop of potatoes in four years and had no blight up in the north east.

planted charlotte - lovely waxy tattie, Nadine amazing size second early tattie so white and tasty and Cara which are great no damage, big and will store well

both Charlotte and Cara planted before and Nadine first time this year all three welcome back next year

    happy gardening
