I would be very interested to hear from anyone in north cornwall about growing veggies this year. I keep a yearly diary and this year has been my worst year for produce. Although the pots have been good and the runner beans has improved since we have had some sunshine. Lots of flowers i.e dahlia, cosmos, geraniums, gladioli, marigold, wild poppies and foxgloves. No sunshine today lets hope it returns soon.

It's just turning sunny here jad, I am in Tavy close to Moor.

my veg hasnt done very well, the nights we're very cold earlier in the year, we haven't had much of a summer, I only grow tomatoes in the greenhouse, never outside. Then plagued with rabbits!

runners are good but French and broad beans not good at all this year, none for the freezer. The courgettes are good but I didn't plant out until June, as with the leeks, they are coming on well now. The best is the parsnips but they are hardy.

where, roughly are you in North Cornwall, On the coast? .

Thanks Lyn. Yes i am on the coast. It is lovely to have the sunshine this week and the sweetcorn are improving . Like you the runner beans are good and so were the broad beans. The nights are cold and i am thinking of covering the young lettuce plants. Lets hope for a mild winter . JAD.

The veg that didn't do anything are beetroot and courgettes. The lettuce were good but didn't last long(Pick and come variety)Very few parsnips about 6 in a row.Sweetpeas have finished. It is very cold at night here so i am thankful for the runner beans and sweetcorn which are strong.

Well i dont know what has happened here in North Cornwall but since writing my last posts The runner beans has blown over but rescued with thick rope. Sweetpea have gone over,to late for them and the sweetcorn are now tied to a canes. I wonder if anything will be standing in the morning.

I can house the fuchsias, just the cannas Hosta, just haven't the room as they are in quite big pots, miss Paradise can live in the conservatory, in fact I brought her in today, before she blows away.

Jad, my courgettes have been very good and still more coming, they do like rich ground and lots of water.

lettuces, I bought a pack of living salad from Lidl in December, separated them up, planted in the green house there is still some in there. I did grow some dark red ones outside which were good but at 99p for 8 months I probably won't bother using seed tray space.

my parsnips are huge, well, the green is! Don't know what they are doing underground, added bonus, the slugs don't touch them.

my sweet peas have come adrift from the trellis as well but runners still gripping on. They are at the giving away stage, I am not keen on them frozen.

tomatoes by the tons, I am hoping not to have any green ones but I did sow too late, you need to sow mid January down here as May and June are our warmest months, by then they will be grown, flowered and making fruit.
