Gustissimo Two Timer Fig plant advice

Hi all I have bought a Gustissimo two timer fig plant - first attempt at figs for me. I have read that they need a large container (around a foot).im wondering whether I should start the plant out in a smaller pot until it grows and needs repotting or am better starting where it will end up. Any other general fig advice for container growth would be welcome! Thanks in advance

Depending on its size, 12" pot should be fine to start with, but as it grows it will eventually need one twice that size - this site has really helpful advice on re-potting etc.
