Chilli plants

Hi all

any budding Chilli growers out there who can advise me on my Chilli plants. Every year about this time just as the plants are offering fruit the leaves start dropping off and unless I salvage the green chillis the plants die off

have a great plant collection every year but would like to know what is wrong in the greenhouse

thanks

The days are getting cooler, the chillies are going dormant and will grow again in spring, unless the stems are brown they're going dormant. That's what happens to mine.image
  • Chris172, what varieties are you growing?

Chilli plants will start dying off in late autumn as temperatures drop, and what you describe might just be the first stages of that.

If you haven't already done so, reducing watering so they're not too damp will also help your plants.

The further north you are, the more you might benefit from trying varieties that are faster maturing or more cool tolerant.  I'd suggest Ring of Fire, Hungarian Hot Wax, Bulgarian Carrot and Super Chilli.
