squirrels and MY Sweetcorn

This year IF my sweet corn ripens it will all be ready at once. I'm looking for ideas to keep the squirrels at bay .I don't mind them having the odd one but I want some too. I've put up some discs , Bird scarers etc but I wondered if I could wrap anything or tube up the sweet corn , thought of slotting toilet rolls over the top. I think it's the ripeness that attracts them.
Any ideas ????
I've got visions of squirrels sat munching on my sweet corn whilst looking at there reflection in the discs

A Jack Russell. They love chasing squirrels.
a trap was my answer to them.
I have a large german shepherd, she would love chasing them ,
There is a but though::::
I'd only need her the once she is a bit cumbersom I'd have no plants left to protect
