Dogwood - horizontal stems

Morning all, beautiful day! First year dogwood and only one vertical stem, all the rest are horizontal , I remember a thread on this but don't know how to retrieve, anyone help? Thanks

    If they are for winter colour, I would do it in, perhaps, February. They may have rooted by then and you will have several plants.

    Yes, I agree with pansyface. Pin down some of those horizontals and make a bigger patch. You can cut of the rest as Verdun suggests
