Fine with seed pods but ..............

Seeds do need to ripen on the plant before you harvest and dry them Jo.

If they're upright the seed will sit there for a while before it drops or you could put it's head in a paper bag

This can be a problem, I've lost seed that way. Picking them before they're ripe won't give you viable seed thoughimage

I find myself collecting seed from plants that would be much better divided. It's an obsessionimage

  • Jo: my lamb's ears are looking an absolute mess and lolling all over the border, but I can't bear to cut them down yet as they are covered in bees all day and everyday! It has to be one of the best things I grow, apart from cotoneaster. My lavenders have had very few visits and don't have much scent, probably because of where I live and the weird 'summer' we've had!
