Damsons?

Hi all, I'm sure this is a topic that comes up every year and my apologies in advance. I have found what I think is a patch of Damson trees, could a kind soul confirm / deny? I picked a small amount I case they are no good to eat. No thorns, Fruits are the dusky colour of a blueberry but a bit more purple and are the size of a small olive (or smaller). Yellow flesh inside. Is it the case like Elderberries "when in season if it looks like an elderberry it's an elderberry"? Or is there something sinister I could confuse them with? I took some pics but not sure how to add them into a post. Thanking all in advance for supporting my foraging adventures!

They are either Bullace (wild plums) or as you think Damsons. Some of the Bullace are nice enough to eat, bit others are incredibly sour. Damsons are tart. No fruit I can think of in Britain matches your description which is   toxic.
